Federal Business Immigration
Self-employed persons must have the intention and ability to create their own employment and make a significant contribution to the cultural, artistic or athletic fields in Canada.
The experience must consist of qualifying activities. Self-employed immigrants must have relevant experience within the five-year period immediately preceding the date of application.
Relevant experience in respect of a self-employed person means that for at least two years in the period beginning five years before the date of application:
- Self-employment in cultural activities or athletics; or
- Participation, at the world-class level, in cultural activities or athletics
Applicants must also meet the other eligibility criteria based on point system. The applicant must score a minimum of 35 points if he/ she wants to immigrate to Canada as a self-employed person.
